I would like to point out that Havildar Wad... discharged from the R.A.F. with a character of "good" only after 19 years service, it appears from the extract from Colonel Rideman's letter that Havildar Wad... should have had a "good" conduct badge if he had not "been promoted". The difference is that his character as a Private was "Good", as a Sergeant "indifferent".

I don't think a man with only a "good" character after 19 years service is worth 1/12 a day! A warrant officer at 1/12 a day is not wholly satisfactory conduct and should have been selected for this responsible post, specially for duty...
